WHAT IS KINESIO TAPING
IT IS NOT A FUNCTIONAL BANDAGE, IT IS AN ELASTIC ADHESIVE BANDAGE WITH A BIO-MECHANICAL THERAPEUTIC EFFECT
Kinesio Taping, originally developed in Japan over 25 years ago by Dr. Kenzo Kase, is a technique based on the body's own natural healing process. Kinesio Taping demonstrates its effectiveness through the activation of the neurological and circulatory systems.
This method comes from the science of kinesio (movement) and this is why the term “Kinesio” is used.
Muscles are not only responsible for moving the body, but also for controlling the circulation of venous and lymphatic fluids, body temperature, etc.
The technique has four main physiological effects:
1. Corrects muscle function. Kinesio Taping is effective in restoring proper muscle tension: it facilitates or inhibits muscle contraction (depending on the technique used).
2. Increases blood/lymph circulation. Kinesio Taping helps eliminate excess edema and/or bleeding between the skin and the muscle.
3. Reduces pain. Neurological suppression of pain occurs by applying Kinesio Taping to the affected area, and as mentioned in Effect 2, (see above)
4. Assists in correcting joint alignment. Dislocation of a joint, due to abnormal muscle tension, can be corrected by Kinesio Taping through the recovery of function and muscle fascia.
