Spectral.RS® Mode of Action

When used alone, Spectral.RS® is not indicated for androgenetic alopecia (genetic male pattern baldness). For maximum results in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, we recommend the use of Spectral.DNC® , a topical treatment containing minoxidil.

Spectral.RS® uses the most advanced technology for drug delivery, available only from DS Laboratories. Nanosomes are the latest generation in liposomal technology, characterized by significantly improved absorption and stability. Liposomes were discovered in England in 1961 by Alec D. Bangham and immediately became an important delivery system, as they can transport both water-soluble and fat-soluble drugs. Liposomes are microscopic vesicles identical to human cell membranes whose function is to deliver vitamins, drugs, and cosmetic materials directly into target cells. Since the wall of liposomes is physiologically similar to human cell membranes, they are able to easily transfer and diffuse active ingredients to any application site on the body. When liposomes containing a cosmetic are applied to the skin, they begin to fuse with the skin cell membranes, releasing their cargo of active materials into them. Despite the amazing potential of this technology, the liposomes used in modern formulations are very unstable at room temperature, degrade easily, and can only exist in a very narrow pH range, which limits their practicality in real-world applications.
