The new Globus Ami Pro device is a device that supports the rehabilitation intervention of patients suffering from dysphagia and works by promoting muscle trophism and improving neuromuscular proprioceptive sensitivity with the aim of re-educating the muscles involved during swallowing. The device intervenes by inducing a non-invasive neuromuscular stimulation (NMES) that stimulates the muscles through electrodes positioned on the neck.
The protocols included comply with the guidelines of the main scientific evidence currently available in
literature. Dysphagia is a difficulty in performing the act of swallowing. For those affected, it becomes very complicated, or even impossible, to swallow both saliva and liquid and/or solid foods. In most cases, dysphagia is due to neurological pathologies but increasingly it also affects elderly people who have a physiological weakening of the muscles involved in swallowing.
