The perfect exercise
The rowing machine works the most important muscles and has a positive effect on the entire circulatory system:
while increasing muscle mass, decreasing fat and improving cardiovascular performance.
It uses 84% of the muscles in the body at the same time.
Increase your physical and emotional well-being.
Fluid movements, without impact or twisting.
Self-regulating resistance, the more powerful your gesture, the stronger the resistance will be.
The why of water
The WaterRower uses a technology based on the principle of water resistance, it is specifically designed to reproduce the physical dynamics of a hull gliding on water.
Silent and peaceful; only the sound of the water is perceptible for a 100% feel-good atmosphere.
Pure design
WaterRower has been awarded for its pure lines by design professionals. Now on display at the London Design Museum, the WaterRower rowing machine is the perfect combination of aesthetics and efficiency. Its technicality, its manufacturing quality and its design make WaterRower a unique fitness device in the world.
Easy to store after use, it takes up no more space than a chair.
More than just a fitness machine, WaterRower is also a decorative object. Its design fits perfectly into any environment. Compact, when stored upright, it does not take up more space than a chair.
WaterRower is one of the most compact fitness machines on the market, with a surface area of 210 x 56 cm. Whatever the finish, WaterRower is resistant to impacts and corrosion. 2-year warranty for components and 10-year warranty on the frame (after registering your device). Choosing WaterRower is a long-term investment in your health and well-being.
Full workout. Real results.
Joint Care
Rowing is one of the best exercises to treat arthritis. During a session on the WaterRower, your joints are challenged by a full range of motion that is smooth and fluid, without impact or twisting. This makes it the perfect exercise for people with joint pain.
Rowing is a physical activity performed in a seated position, eliminating body weight from the joints prone to injury (ankle, hip and knee).
Rowing is suitable for everyone, young or old, male or female, large or small, fit or unfit.
A mix of light and intense activity
The WaterRower rowing machine simulates, as faithfully as possible, the sensations experienced during rowing. The whirling of the blades in its tank (WaterFlywheel) reproduces the physical dynamics of an oar on the water. Thanks to the resistance of the water, the nobility and quality of the materials used and the manufacturing, WaterRower is the ideal device for a complete exercise.
Strengthen your body, mind and soul
Rowing with WaterRower increases physical and emotional well-being. Rowing exercise is gentle on the joints and does not cause injury.
Whether you are a professional or recreational athlete, you will discover a new level of sport with increased power and fitness and an increase in your concentration skills.
A session on a WaterRower tones the body while relaxing the mind. Designed to closely mimic the sensations of rowing, WaterRower takes its users through one light and intense activity at a time.
The rowing machine works the most important muscles and has a positive effect on the entire circulatory system:
while increasing muscle mass, decreasing fat and improving cardiovascular performance.
- Uses 84% of the body's muscles simultaneously:
more specifically those of the legs, buttocks, abdomen and back (see image above).
- Benefits of a session on the WaterRower:
burn maximum calories and maximize effort during a short period of exercise.
- Increase your physical and emotional well-being:
a light and intense activity at the same time…
- Smooth movements, without impact or twisting:
protects the joints.
- A self-regulating resistance:
no resistance setting, adapts to each user. The more powerful your gesture, the stronger the resistance.
The rowing machine works the most important muscles and has a positive effect on the entire circulatory system:
while increasing muscle mass, decreasing fat and improving cardiovascular performance.
Cardio and aerobic machines like treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and even other rowing machines work much less muscle mass, burn fewer calories, and reproduce fewer exercise benefits than a session on a WaterRower.
Whether for professional or recreational practice, you will discover a new level of sport with greater power and form and an increase in your concentration skills.
Efficiency in a minimum of time – this is what WaterRower offers with a much lower level of perceived exertion than other cardio exercises.
During a session on the WaterRower, the effort reaches 84% of the muscle mass and allows you to burn calories simultaneously in different parts of the body, according to your own rhythm. Depending on the effort and the duration of the exercise, you can burn up to 1000 calories per hour.
There are other exercises and fitness machines, but they work fewer muscles than the rowing machine and require very high intensity exercise. For example, to burn 800 calories per hour, on a treadmill, bicycle, elliptical, the effort must be performed at a very high intensity (almost unbearable).
A consistent pace is essential to spread the work as evenly as possible between muscle groups. By working on muscle groups with the same intensity and strength, exercise and optimization and reduce the risk of injury.
Principle of water resistance
Water resistance
The WaterRower works on the principle of hydrodynamic resistance. It is proportional to your effort and there is no risk of overload (the higher the speed acting on the «WaterFlywheels» when performing the exercise, the higher the effort).
The WaterRower's resistance depends on your rowing power and automatically adapts to the user.
The faster you row, the stronger the resistance will be.
How Does the Water Rower Work?
Self-adjusting resistance
WaterRower's patented Water Flywheel naturally develops self-adjusting resistance.
Rowing and other natural aerobic exercises (such as swimming, running, cycling, etc.) are not resistance-based exercises.
Rowing and other natural aerobic exercises are about the work done to move you (and your equipment) through your average effort. Whether that's a boat or a swimmer through the water, a runner or a cyclist through the air.
The only resistance present is the effect of aerodynamic drag acting on you and your equipment. And very importantly, this drag is directly proportional to the average speed at which you are moving.
For example, when you row, the work you do overcomes aerodynamic resistance and acts on the boat, allowing the boat to move at a certain speed. When you increase the effort, the resistance you have to overcome increases and the boat goes faster.
Remember, the boat does not ask you for resistance, but you ask the boat for motion, and it moves at a speed equal to the aerodynamic resistance you manage to overcome.
The limit to your rowing speed is you, your ability to produce movement and overcome aerodynamic resistance. This varies from person to person: young or old, big or small, male or female, trained or untrained.
This is the natural self-regulation of the WaterRower and natural aerobic exercises.

Product Features:
SmartRow is an intelligent power meter that provides an extremely accurate measurement of your WaterRower's performance.
Fitted as a replacement for the WaterRower pulley, the electronics inside the SmartRow measure absolute force and stroke length to calculate power output, regardless of the water level in the tank or the tightness of the recoil bungee.
Available for all WaterRower wooden models, SmartRow wirelessly transmits real-time workout data via Bluetooth to the SmartRow app on your handheld device.
Ideal for anyone who is serious about tracking their performance, SmartRow (along with the SmartRow app) turns your WaterRower into a lab ergometer. Not only will it show you power, distance, work per stroke, calories, etc.,
It will show you every strength curve, heart rate graph and much more! SmartRow lets you track your workouts, and also displays well-known fitness metrics like "Watts-per-Beat" and "Watts-per-Kilogram".
NB SmartRow is compatible with all Bluetooth heart rate monitoring straps, sold separately.
Due to the precise nature of the SmartRow mechanism, it is not possible to have the device pre-installed on a WaterRower and shipped via courier. Full instructions are provided to assist in upgrading the SmartRow to your WaterRower at home.
